Sharing a meal is a gesture of friendship across every culture on earth.

Our capital city has become home to over a third of all former refugees resettling in New Zealand. In the last 10 years, that's over 2400 people. How many of us are lucky enough to get to know these people, make them feel welcome and get to know cultures that may be very different from our own?

We’ve built a platform, which enables established Wellingtonians to have a good old Kiwi potluck with newcomers from all different backgrounds. The hope is to break down barriers, form friendships, encourage hospitality and the sharing of cultures.

You can participate as a host, by hosting a meal out of a community space in your neighbourhood with the support of a Hapori coordinator, you can sign up as a guest and attend one of our events, or you can help us out as a Volunteer ensuring the meals go smoothly and everyone feels comfortable and included.

If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with them. The people who give you their food give you their heart.
